A New Year's Resolution Request for the Childfree
It's the last day of the year and you know what that means: People will be making New Year's Resolutions!
Personally, I've never been one for New Year's Resolutions. When I make up my mind to do something, I just do it — and, if I haven't made up my mind to do it, the day of the year, no matter how culturally significant, won't kickstart my will.
But I do have a request on behalf of myself (and, I suspect, lots of other childfree folks) for anyone who does like making New Year's Resolutions and is looking for suggestions: Resolve to set aside your judgments about other people's reproductive choices in 2025, and forever.
If someone tells you they have chosen not to parent, take in that information as the neutral piece of information that it is. Don't judge them, nor make assumptions about their character or why they made that choice, nor ask invasive questions, nor tell them they will change their minds.
Be a part of normalizing being childfree. That's a resolution working making — and I daresay one that will be easy to keep with minimal effort.
